No Turning Back

Do you realise that there are only 127 days left of this year? Just those days. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing can be added and nothing can be taken from it. That’s a scary thought when you think about it right? Only 127 more days left.

The phrase “no turning back” is used to describe a point of no return—a moment when a decision or action is permanent and requires moving forward.

With only 127 days remaining, the opportunity for a huge, life-altering change may have passed, but the window for progress is wide open.

Today, with only 127 days left to 2025 there are 2 things we can do.

  1. We can continue to live by faith and hope   Or
  2. We can use the next days moving forward and not looking behind us. There is NO TURNING BACK.

Recently, a friend of mine laid her 16 year old daughter to rest. There was no turning back from that.

A baby in our family was born and is alive and well. There is no turning back.

Somebody got that promotion, the new job, a brand new home, a car, or  on the other side somebody lost  their home, their job or their car. But there’s NO TURNING BACK

An expression I grew up with says: “time waits for no man”

But I believe today that faith and hope does. These 2 help us to MOVE FORWARD without looking back or even turning back. If I look back too long then I might stay in that place where I might have regrets, disappointment or even fear. So I don’t want to look back.

As life goes on, I realise that I HAVE to move forward. I HAVE to work at my faith in God, my relationship with others, and my personal need for growth and maturity. There is almost no time to turn back or look back.

Somebody once asked me what place on earth would I never want to visit. For me it’s hospitals and graveyards. I can’t bear to see suffering or seeing someone buried.

But then I am SO grateful for the scripture that says in

Deuteronomy 31:8

“The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”

Picture a busy street and a father holding his son’s hand. They are at the pedestrian crossing g where it is safe to cross, but yet he holds his son’s hand.

THIS is NO TURNING BACK. THIS IS MOVING FORWARD!

There was a woman who looked back at the life she had lived, she longed for it. But her and her family were leaving that place. But when she looked back at what she was leaving behind, she turned into a pillar of salt. Something useless.

In Psalm 37:4,5 it says that we must do ONLY 2 things:

1. Trust God

2. Worship & Praise God.

When we continue to do that and NOT give up, then.

1. God will direct us.

2. God will give us our Hearts desires.

So we’re going to take the next 127 days of this year and do that. Trust and Hope. Using faith.

Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ says:

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

There’s an old hymn I remember that says:

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?

When the clouds unfold their wings of strife

When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain

Will your anchor drift or firm remain?

(We have an anchor)

We have an anchor that keeps the soul

Steadfast and sure while the billows roll

Fastened to the Rock which cannot move

Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love

Sooooo……127 days left. What will you and I be doing with those days? Will we have regret or gratefulness?

Let’s decide to rather hold onto the one thing. Our hope that across the next busy road, God will be there guiding us and holding our hand.
